H. L. Candy Haddix Grand Royal Matron

This begins a year that I have looked forward to with deep humility and great enthusiasm.  With deep appreciation I wish to thank the members of Florida Grand Court for the honor that you have given in electing me to be your Grand Royal Matron for the coming year.  I now pledge to Florida Grand Court that I will give my all to serve you.

I was born in San Pedro, California.  Before I entered the Air Force in 1973, I was a member of Job's Daughters, Bethel #24, and became a majority member.  In 1984, I was initiated into Tucson Court #5 in Tucson, Arizona when I was stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB.  From Nov 1978 to Nov 1979, I was privileged to be transferred to King Salmon Airport, Alaska.  That year was truly an amazing time.  I was able to get involved with the Civil Air Patrol and we made a Christmas run to remote villages to take fresh produce and supplies to the folks.  In August 1979, I caught a 48 pound King Salmon which was almost as big as I was.  In November 1979, I transferred back to Tucson for another 6 years.  In October 1985, I transferred to Moody AFB, Georgia and affiliated with Tifton Court #25. I served as Standard Bearer in that Court.  During my stay in Georgia, I received the 1990 Administrator of the Year Award for Moody AFB and was also able to fly an F-16 jet for about 20 minutes.   In 1991, I transferred back home to Los Angeles AFB and affiliated with Redondo Court #44.  While in California, I was in charge of the Los Angeles AFB Color Guard.

I officially retired from the Air Force in January 1994 as a Master Sergeant (E-7) after serving 21 years.  I moved to Galveston, Indiana, in December 1993 and was there until I moved to Melbourne in June 1995 where I affiliated my membership to Ida E. Banks Court #51.  I became Royal Matron in 2000 and again in 2005.

In August 1995, I became employed by the State of Florida as a Juvenile Probation Officer in Brevard County and I thoroughly enjoy working with children hoping to make a difference in their lives. 

My family consists of my three cats:  Enchi, Quesa, and Mexi.
